When Allison contacted me through a recommendation from my favorite wedding planning team at Rust & Relics, I immediately felt so lucky to be capturing her and Mason’s love story. Allison had a super clear vision for an understated glam wedding, and with Prospect House Austin as their venue, I was beyond excited to document their day.
Allison also holds the honor of being the one who nudged me into the world of film photography. She loved my digital work but specifically wanted the nostalgic touch of film. I had been toying with the idea, but her trust in me gave me the final push to dive in.
For their Austin engagement session, we shot some of my first film photos as a wedding photographer—capturing memories at the Driskill Hotel and Lady Bird Lake Retro Boat Rentals in downtown Austin. So when it came time for their wedding, I brought out a very special (to me) film camera – my family’s Canon AE1 Program – the camera that documented my childhood memories. Shooting with it for the first time at Allison & Mason’s wedding felt like a full-circle moment, and I’m SO happy with how the photos turned out.
Prospect House was a flawless choice for Allison and Mason’s wedding. Situated in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, the venue’s unique architecture features sleek lines, large floor-to-ceiling windows and metal siding that feels both industrial and elegant. The modern vibe perfectly complemented the couple’s minimalist glam style, allowing the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape to shine through.
Prospect House is designed with intention, from the ceremony lawn that perfectly frames the Hill Country views to the open reception space that feels intimate yet expansive. The venue is a blank slate with enough character to make it unforgettable and sets the perfect tone for their day.
Allison spent her morning in one of Prospect House’s prep suites, surrounded by lots of celebration, love, and her closest friends.
Allison is super close to her mom and was determined to have a dedicated first look with her, so much so that she kicked her mom and bridesmaids out of the room while she got into her dress! When she had her mom turn around to see her for the first time, it almost brought everyone to tears. It was such a precious moment that I’d love to see more of my couples embrace—a first look with mom can be just as meaningful as the other first look traditions.
The takeaway: making moments your own makes them a million times more meaningful.
Allison then shared another first-look moment with her bridesmaids. Their reactions were priceless.
Not to mention, Prospect House’s floral gallery wall is always a stunner and was the perfect backdrop for this sweet moment.
Meanwhile, Mason and his groomsmen headed outside Prospect House for their portraits, where the venue’s industrial, modern aesthetic provided the perfect backdrop. The sleek architecture and clean lines set an effortlessly cool vibe that matched the guys’ energy, and every shot felt both classic and fresh.
Instead of a first look or a pre-ceremony “first touch,” Allison and Mason opted to exchange letters before the ceremony. As they read each other’s words, they found a quiet moment to connect, even without seeing one another. It was a lovely way to calm any nerves and feel close before the big moment without taking away from the emotion of their first look during the ceremony. I love how a love letter exchange can build the anticipation of meeting at the altar and still be a sweet, quiet pause. It adds a beautiful layer of emotion to the walk down the aisle.
Allison and Mason’s ceremony setup was modern yet ethereal, with a square arch draped in delicate garlands of baby’s breath. It beautifully framed the surrounding views, and the minimalist floral truly underscored the beauty of simplicity. It was such a refreshing reminder that you don’t need elaborate installations for that timeless elegance vibe — sometimes, the lightest touches make the most significant impact.
I LOVED when Mason took his place at the altar. The guests immediately started cheering as he walked down the aisle. It was such a cute moment! It was wonderful to see him get that extra dose of love and support from their guests, and when Allison finally appeared, his smile said everything. Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend, and everything felt so personal, full of love, and absolutely perfect.
Golden hour at Prospect House is magic, and Allison and Mason’s portraits were breathtaking. Allison’s stunning silk gown with a high slit paired perfectly with Mason’s classic tuxedo. As they walked through the fields, the warm, golden light cast a cinematic and timeless glow.
Again, the intentional details really put everything over the top (with such minimal effort in no small part thanks to the stunning setting). Some highlights from their portraits were the ceremony arch framing them amongst the beautiful grass fields and their welcome mirror sign, which also made the coolest photo op idea!
After their dreamy portraits, Allison and Mason made their grand entrance to their reception. They shared a beautiful first dance as a married couple, surrounded by friends and family. One of the fun reception touches was the champagne toast wall, where guests could pick up a glass and join in the celebration. Their cake cutting was super sweet and cute with their custom neon sign glowing in the background.
After the cake cutting and the dancing began, I took a moment to grab a cake slice and other wedding reception details to capture some fun flash photos. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND night detail shots now, especially because they really capture the vibe of the wedding reception and make for a cool in-between-moment detail shot!
As the evening progressed, the dance party got more and more epic, with a few unique surprises sprinkled throughout the evening. I loved that Allison’s bridesmaids gifted Mason with Polaroids from her boudoir shoot.
It was truly a night to remember with all the carefree laughter, singing and dancing.
For their last dance, Allison changed into an adorable corset mini-dress paired with a little bow and mini veil hairpiece. We love a fun outfit change! Then Allison & Mason shared one last intimate dance while guests gathered outside for a sparkler send-off.
It was the perfect way to end their night—with love, light, and one last kiss under the stars. Watching them make their way through a tunnel of sparklers, surrounded by everyone who mattered most to them, was nothing short of magical.
Their day was a blend of understated glamour, simplicity and deep connection — and was such a perfect true reflection of who they are as a couple. Witnessing and documenting their love at Prospect House Austin was an honor and joy.
