Kaylyn & Michael’s wedding at Lone Oak Barn in Round Rock was bursting with color and unfiltered joy. Not only was the love and excitement absolutely infectious all day long, but they had colorful flowers EVERYWHERE. It’s impossible not to feel the brightness of their day radiating through every photo.
Looking for an Austin wedding venue with a hint of Southern charm? The Lone Oak Barn in Round Rock effortlessly combines rustic Hill Country vibes with a trendy Austin touch. This wedding location has it all: a beautiful countryside feel just 20 minutes from Austin, southern chic decor, stunning getting-ready suites, an indoor/outdoor barn reception floor plan, and SO much more. It checked every box for Kaylyn and Michael’s hip & colorful country wedding.
As an Austin wedding photographer, one of my favorite things about this venue was its getting-ready suites. Kaylyn & Michael were intentional with every moment, from getting ready with their closest friends and family to writing love letters to each other before exchanging vows. Lone Oak Barn provided them with thoughtfully curated spaces to elevate every memory.
Everything about Kaylyn & Michael’s Round Rock wedding exuded love and joy. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they decided to completely do their own thing when it came to their first looks.
Michael thought he was going to have a first look with his bride, but his best man got all dressed up to surprise him instead! I’m always game for fun wedding day surprises and pranks!
While it was so much fun capturing all these unique and nontraditional first looks, Kaylyn’s first look with her dad is when the emotions really hit. Her dad’s reaction was the absolute sweetest and melted us.
Another sweet way Kaylyn & Michael made their wedding their own was by having the bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down the aisle individually. I loved getting to capture Michael welcoming each groom to the ceremony.
I also always make sure to capture the quieter, unexpected moments during the ceremony: like how Kaylyn’s mom leaned her head on her husband’s shoulder. These little emotional surprises are always a favorite with my couples, as oftentimes they’re moments they would’ve missed otherwise.
Kaylyn & Michael really let their personalities shine and were all about being present with their friends and family. So while they did traditional wedding party portraits after the ceremony, their photos speak volumes on how happy and excited they all were.
Lone Oak Barn provides an array of portrait options with oak tree groves, a vintage mint-blue truck, stunning wall murals and playful pops of color. This Austin wedding venue was the perfect backdrop for the couple’s wedding portraits during golden hour.
The barn reception was decked out in a colorful display of flowers, candles and vases. After taking their golden hour photos, the couple cozied up for toasts at the head table. Their custom neon sign and wall of string lights (and those drinks!) kept the festivities bright.
Then the party commenced. There was the cutting of the DREAMIEST pressed flower wedding cake, the youngest victor of a garter toss ever, and so much dancing. We also got a giant group wedding photo of the couple and all their wedding guests! BEST. RECEPTION. EVER.
I love that more and more of my couples are incorporating a private last dance to end their night, and of course, Kaylyn & Michael were no exception. After their last dance under the stars and string lights, they said goodbye to their guests under an arch of sparklers.
Kaylyn & Michael were a dream. Watching how intentional they were throughout the day and all the love radiating off of them and their loved ones sums up everything I love about being an Austin wedding photographer. Their wedding at Lone Oak Barn in Round Rock is one I won’t ever forget. My photographer’s heart was – and is – so full.
