Texas Hill Country weddings don’t get much classier than Emma & Alex’s gorgeous day at Two Wishes Ranch in Lockhart, Texas. Just 30 minutes from downtown Austin, their wedding was the perfect mix of modern elegance with rustic Hill Country charm.
They kept it classy, sentimental and fun with stunning decor, portraits with their horses and a ceremony filled with instrumental Taylor Swift songs. Their personalities and emotions shined through every detail of their Austin ranch wedding.
A premier wedding venue near Austin, the Two Wishes Ranch is a beautiful blank slate for any outdoor Texas Hill Country wedding. This venue is an equestrian ranch in Lockhart and is where Emma & Alex board their two horses. This fact combined with the timeless aesthetic of the venue made Two Wishes Ranch the perfect location for them to celebrate their love.
Before the wedding day began, I caught the light making magic across the reception tables in the Two Wishes Barn. As an Austin wedding photographer, I LOVE when I can play with light and capture little details like this.
There are so many elements to love about the Two Wishes Ranch Wedding Venue in Lockhart, and their getting ready suites are no exception. Emma got ready with her bridesmaids, mom and her mother-in-law in The Little Wish Suite. The space is filled with natural light, a luxurious lounge area, and plenty of salon-worthy hair and makeup stations. The clean lines of the white shiplap walls and the elegant decor made every angle absolutely beautiful.
I love these moments with Emma and her bridesmaids, with her mom helping her into her stunning BHLDN gown and all the sweet moments in between.
While Emma was getting ready with her wedding party, Alex and the guys were getting ready in the sophisticated and rustic Lucky Penny Suite: a cozy indoor lounge with a spacious private lawn.
I always get just as excited about capturing the groom before the ceremony. These photos of Alex getting ready in this little Hill Country log cabin have become some of my all-time favorite groom portraits.
While the couple kept to the tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding, they exchanged letters and gifts that were so personal and sweet. So grab your Kleenex, because this is the part where we ALL cried.
First, Alex gifted Emma a Tiffany bracelet along with a beautifully hand-written letter before the ceremony. He put so much love into the letter and wanted to give her something she could hold onto forever – everyone was tearing up!
For Alex’s gift, Emma knew how close Alex was to his late Nan (grandmother) and how much he wished she could’ve been there to see him get married. So Emma gave him a pin with her photo as his wedding gift. It was an incredibly emotional moment, and the SWEETEST way to keep his Nan close to his heart throughout the day.
In true Texas summer wedding fashion, Emma & Alex opted to have an outdoor wedding ceremony in The Garden at Two Wishes Ranch. They said “I do” under an elegant arbor filled with roses designed by Stems Floral in Austin. Paired with sweeping views of lush rolling fields, their ceremony was a Hill Country dream.
The couple chose fun little twists for their ceremony. A string trio played Taylor Swift songs throughout the ceremony (their honeymoon was an Eras Tour concert). They also gave ribbon streamers to guests to wave while they walked back down the aisle as newlyweds.
While their guests were enjoying cocktail hour, Emma & Alex ran off to the fields to take wedding portraits with their horses. I was so excited when I learned that they boarded their horses at Two Wishes Ranch and wanted to have portraits with them in the fields. Their love for riding is such a big part of their lives, and it was so sweet seeing them get to share this special day with ALL their favorite four-legged companions.
One of the really cool features of Two Wishes Ranch near Austin is their AMAZING barn. With oversized sliding doors featuring their iconic wishbone “W” handles, lofty ceilings with stunning chandeliers, and white lime-washed walls, this barn is an architectural work of art.
After their wedding portraits, the wedding party + the couple entered the sliding barn doors dancing their way through their reception introductions. Once the sliding doors were closed, toasts, dinner and dancing commenced.
“Where do I even begin?!
From the beginning, Leah was so responsive and excited when discussing our ideas for our photos. We received a handwritten note and a coffee date (on her) after selecting her as our photographer, which gave my husband and I an intentional moment to sit down and talk all things wedding. She provided recommendations for wedding vendors and ideas when I was stuck, and was extremely helpful all around. Meeting Leah for our engagement session felt as if we were long time friends getting together for a fun day to celebrate our engagement… Her ability to make you feel like you’re having a blast during the photo process is uncanny.
Jump forward a few months… Leah helped me steam my dress, wrangle dogs, horses, bridesmaids- she simply did it all. To top it all off, our wedding photos were magazine worthy. We feel so lucky to have found Leah as she made our big moments feel extra special. If you are searching for a wedding photographer who will “get you” Leah is your woman! 10/10 recommend.”
Emma
I adore Emma & Alex so much. Seeing their love for each other, how they shared it all with their family and friends – and we can’t forget their four-legged family – was an absolute honor to be part of and capture.
I fell head-over-heels for Two Wishes Ranch, and it’s an Austin area wedding venue I hope to photograph again someday!
