San Antonio is without question one of the friendliest cities in Texas and has a special spot in my heart for many reasons. From the meandering River Walk and riverboats to the historic missions scattered in the heart of downtown, the culture is diverse and filled with history. There’s the food and Fiesta, the parks and museums – and all of it just a short drive from all the beauty the Texas Hill Country has to offer! Since there’s such a rich variety of possible photo session spots, I’ve curated my favorite San Antonio engagement photo locations to help you find the one that feels just right.
Historic Downtown Market with Local Flavor & Fun
So many of my San Antonio couples love spending a weekend at the Pearl downtown – and it’s easy to see why! Just a short hop from the River Walk and filled with local icons like the Hotel Emma and the Culinary Institute of America, the Pearl is filled with unique engagement photo shoot ideas.

Riverside Paradise in the Heart of Downtown
If the Pearl is the hub of downtown San Antonio, the River Walk is its life blood. Locals and visitors alike love to escape the concrete and noise by wandering its limestone pathways, grand cypress trees and rich culture & history. The River Walk stretches for miles, connecting the heart of downtown to many of the UNESCO World Heritage Missions.
Old World Elegance
A beautiful San Antonio landmark, Concepción stands as the oldest unrestored church in America. With deep historical roots, this mission is a beautiful backdrop with iconic stone archways and lovingly tended grounds.
Contemporary River Walk Vibes
Just off the beaten path of the San Antonio River Walk and lined by beautifully curated gardens, the Tobin Center’s outdoor plaza and pathways offer a diverse range of backdrops for engagement photos.
Glamorous Rooftop Vibes
With their cozy speakeasy vibes, vintage urban charm and STUNNING rooftop views of downtown San Antonio, Devils River Distillery is one of my new favorite spots to take engagement photos.
