From the moment I arrived at Lauren & Garrett’s private family ranch in Round Top, I knew this day was going to be special. Not just because it had all the staples of an iconic Hill Country wedding (think sprawling oak trees, grassy fields, and a historic farmhouse straight out of a storybook), but because these two poured so much personality into every single detail.
Croquet on the lawn? Check. Parasol umbrellas for guests? Yes please. Cigar rolling and caricatures at the reception? Absolutely. Lauren and Garrett’s day was vintage in the dreamiest way, and y’all—I am still not over it.
Lauren & Garrett’s day hosted their guests at their family’s private ranch in Round Top, which made it extra personal and meaningful. While you can’t book this specific ranch for your own wedding, you truly can’t go wrong with a Hill Country ranch wedding—especially if you’re chasing those quintessential Texas vibes: wide-open fields, historic farmhouses or barns, and ceremonies under sprawling oak trees.
A stunning ranch-style venue with plenty of space for celebrating in the heart of Texas wine country
If wide-open Hill Country views are your love language, this spot delivers in spades.
My curated venue guide to the Hill Country, from over 10 years of shooting weddings here. This guide is a round up of my all-time faves, organized by location, style, and overall vibe.
Lauren and her bridesmaids basically turned the vintage farmhouse into the world’s most aesthetic sleepover. Everyone sprawled out in cozy corners, Lauren’s pup on the couch, the girls piling onto a brass-framed bed, lacing each other up into their bridesmaids dresses (a total Jane Austen moment). It was laid-back, but with so many little timeless touches that made it feel extra special and unique.
Meanwhile, over in the historic rock cabin, Garrett and the guys had their own relaxed morning. Suits, laughs, and porch hangs under the oak trees—it was simple, easy, and very Hill Country.
The front porch of the farmhouse set the scene for Lauren and Garrett’s first look and vow exchange. Just the two of them, sunshine spilling across the white siding, sharing promises and laughing. It was private, unhurried, and everything you hope for when carving out that moment together before the ceremony.
In true vintage style, guests were greeted with croquet mallets before the ceremony. The bridesmaids, in soft tiered dresses, looked like something out of British Vogue, walking across the lawn under parasol umbrellas while playing croquet. It was a little whimsical, elegant, and so unapologetically vintage—like a little nod to old-school garden parties but with Texas charm woven through.
You really can’t beat a Hill Country wedding ceremony under a giant live oak. Guests fanned themselves in the shade of parasols while Lauren and Garrett said “I do.” It was sweet and classy and oh-so Texas.
When the party moved under the big white tent, it was chef’s kiss. Gold pendant lights glowed over tables covered in white orchids, lilies, and roses. Candles flickered and the whole setting felt vintage but still cozy.
Guests got to enjoy all kinds of fun extras too—a cigar rolling station, a caricature artist, and plenty of cocktails flowing. Lauren and Garrett kept it classy with their cake cutting and first dances, but they also spent a ton of time simply being present, chatting and mingling with friends and family.
Of course, we had to slip away for golden hour photos. The fields around the farm gave us that dreamy Texas light (IYKYK), and Lauren & Garrett looked like the happiest couple in the world frolicking around together.
These are the kind of photos that are quintessential to an outdoor Hill Country wedding: endless sky, golden grass, and pure joy.
Once the sun dipped, it was game on. Lauren switched into a sequined mini dress covered in little white flowers (we love a fun outfit change mid-reception) and the dance floor switched into full-on party mode. Drinks flowed, cigars were lit, and the dance floor turned into a full-blown party under string lights and stars.
I bring all the favorite big sis energy you need: I’ll hype you up when you need it, crack a joke to calm your nerves, and gently remind you to soak it all in when the day starts flying by. (All while documenting the moments you never want to forget.)
So let’s grab coffee and talk about how you met and all you’re dreaming up for your day. I promise your love will be seen & celebrated every step of the way.
