When Madeline reached out to me about capturing their Austin, Texas wedding, I was over the moon. Their vision for a wedding at Springdale Station in the heart of East Austin had everything you could want – immaculate vintage vibes with modern touches and some of the sweetest nerds I’ve ever met. (They joke that most of their people are doctors, just not the medical kind).
From subtle speakeasy vibes and disco balls to ALLL the love for their people, their Springdale Station Wedding in Austin was one I would happily relive over and over again. (It also has some of my favorite wedding film photos to date).
Located just eight minutes from downtown Austin, Springdale Station holds a special place in the city’s history. Once a famed train station, the venue has been lovingly restored, blending vintage 1920s architecture with modern amenities and iconic Austin style. Springdale Station’s warm wood tones and historic charm offered the perfect backdrop for Madeline & Kevin’s timeless celebration.
Madeline & Kevin’s wedding day was all about bringing their favorite people together to celebrate their love at this iconic Austin Texas wedding venue. It was a common thread that wove together the whole day, and I really wanted it to shine through in their wedding gallery.
Madeline is such an old soul, so the venue’s vintage vibes and the decor she chose fit her style effortlessly. Despite the small space, it was so sweet watching her gather with her bridal party in the renovated Airstream.
Meanwhile, Kevin was in the other getting ready space at Springdale Station that definitely leaned into the venue’s subtle speakeasy feel.
Madeline & Kevin decided to have a first look and wedding party portraits before the ceremony, and the historic architecture really made their portraits one-of-a-kind (with plenty of mod Austin vibes). Taking their wedding party portraits before the ceremony was key, as they really wanted to ensure they had plenty of time to be with their guests after the ceremony.
Originally, Madeline & Kevin were planning to have their wedding ceremony in Springdale Station’s beautiful courtyard. However, when their wedding day rolled around, there was an unexpected chill in the air thanks to the wind (so typical of Texas weather to throw a curveball).
But the great thing about Springdale Station is that both their outdoor and indoor wedding ceremony sites are STUNNING. So it was an easy decision for them to move the ceremony indoors at the last minute.
Like the rest of their day, the ceremony was a beautiful blend of history and playful mod touches – like the disco balls hanging from the white beadboard ceilings and their modern circle flower arch.
You could feel the love and celebration radiating from every corner, and it was an honor to document them saying I do surrounded by the people they cherish most.
Their reception at Springdale Station was a perfect blend of vintage charm and playful mod elegance. With its speakeasy vibes and cozy atmosphere, the space felt like a step back in time while still being thoroughly contemporary.
While you can’t really “sneak” away for golden hour portraits at Springdale Station, this suited Madeline & Kevin perfectly. Since it was important to them to ensure their guests were a big part of their day, I loved that we got to capture some portraits of them not only off in little corners on their own, but also with all their guests mingling in the background.
I love when my couples choose to mingle during cocktail hour and I can really capture them in their element with guests. These are always photos that will mean the most when they get their gallery back, being surrounded and loved on by their nearest and dearest.
And, this was definitely the case for Madeline & Kevin. Since we got so many portraits and group shots taken before the ceremony, they really got to soak in some one-on-one time with their guests.
Continuing on their theme of celebrating alongside their favorite people, Madeline & Kevin thanked and welcomed their guests after toasts from their maid of honor and best man.
Afterwards, Madeline & Kevin had their first dance, as well as the sweetest first dances with their moms.
I love LOVE when I can capture couples watching each other while they take turns dancing with their parents.
You can’t have disco balls everywhere without a dance party! After toasts and dinner, Madeline made a quick outfit change into a stunning beaded, flapper style reception dress that used to be her mom’s. It was a meaningful touch and beautifully kicked off an evening of dancing, laughter, and some epic crowd surfing.
After one amazing dance party surrounded by all their guests, Madeline & Kevin stole away to the wedding ceremony site for one last wedding dance.
While they were dancing, their guests gathered outside to send them off in a shower of flower petals. It was the perfect end to their Springdale Station wedding in Austin.
“While wedding photography trends seem to come and go (orange washed photos, overly airy light or dramatically dark), Leah truly has a timeless style that I knew I would cherish in my wedding day memories for years to come.
I was also excited to find out that her pricing was extremely fair for the Austin market these days and overall a huge value – I got SO MANY amazing photos and she turned them around so quickly, even my friends and family were surprised at how quickly I got a sneak peek (two days later!) and my full wedding album (within 6 weeks)!
Leah was so wonderful to work with, she is kind, creative and made the full process so fun and comfortable – even if you don’t spend too much time in front of a camera! She was willing to work with us on ideas and prioritized what we wanted out of our engagement and wedding day photos vs. spending hours and hours doing photos and not enjoying the day!
Of all my wedding vendors, Leah was the easiest to work with and I’m only sad I don’t get to keep working with her more!
From our first skype call, to her wedding photography guide, and the keepsake she gave us after the night of our wedding, Leah truly provides such a bespoke experience, I can’t recommend her more.”
As an Austin wedding photographer, working with Madeline & Kevin on their Springdale Station wedding was an honor. I always pinch myself that I get to work with some of the kindest couples who trust me to capture the soul and spirit of their love story.
I’d love to grab coffee and learn more about your big day! Get in touch here.
