When Cayleigh & Ryan reached out to me about documenting their elopement here in the Texas Hill Country, I knew I was in for a day with all the heartfelt, intimate moments. Set amongst Fredericksburg’s quaint German charm, their elopement at the iconic Hoffman Haus was a laid-back and elegant celebration of their love.
Just a block from the quaint shops of downtown Fredericksburg, the Hoffman Haus is a stunning Hill Country retreat weaving together the old and the new. The bnb exudes Fredericksburg’s gracious hospitality and has become a local staple filled with historic charm and luxurious amenities. Since Cayleigh & Ryan wanted to have an intimate Hill Country getaway for their elopement, the Hoffman Haus was just the place.
Under the expert guidance of Jennifer at Joyful Elopements, every detail of the day was meticulously planned to reflect the couple’s easy elegance and intimate style. From the cozy courtyard where they exchanged vows to the inviting library where they shared tender moments as newlyweds, every space within Hoffman Haus became a canvas for their love story.
While many couples think of first looks only happening with traditional wedding days, they can also be a sweet way to officially “begin” your elopement. Cayleigh & Ryan’s elopement began with a heartwarming first look outside their charming suite at Hoffman Haus.
Cayleigh & Ryan exchanged heartfelt vows in the courtyard, surrounded by lush greenery and allll the dappled light coming through the trees.
After their intimate ceremony with just the two of them, they toasted to their future with champagne and cut their sweet little wedding cake from Sophie’s Bakery in Fredericksburg.
After celebrating with champagne and cake, we wandered the gravel paths on the grounds of the Hoffman Haus. They shared many tender moments together as I took portraits of them in their just–married bliss.
After spending some time outside, we took a moment to pause inside the beautifully decorated Hoffman Haus library.
As their special day was winding down, it was super sweet watching Ryan help Cayleigh slip off her shoes. They ended their celebration with just them, champagne and their cozy Hoffman Haus suite. It was the perfect end to a perfectly intimate day.
“The photos turned out beautiful. I’m just in awe, don’t even know what to say, I absolutely LOVE them! We will be framing these and putting them up in our house – amazing work Leah. Also, thank you for getting so many of them to us to share with family right away.
You helped make our special day truly the most remarkable memorable experience and I just can’t thank you enough.”
While elopements naturally tend to be a little less overwhelming than planning a traditional wedding, there are a lot of assumptions and misleading information out there about planning an elopement. So here are some reminders, tips and things to consider when choosing to elope:
You may be thinking: “But, Leah, elopements are supposed to be so easy! Why do we need an elopement planner?” Even when eloping, there are so many logistics and details to be planned out, and Jennifer at Joyful Elopements in Fredericksburg knows them all! Every time I’ve worked with her, she’s incredibly intentional and thoughtful, ensuring everything runs without a hitch. She does all the communicating with vendors, venues and locations. A planner takes care of acquiring any special permits needed, they keep track of time and staying on schedule, run any music you want to play and so much more! Having a planner like Jennifer really takes the load off of your photographer as well, so they can focus on capturing every little moment. If you’re eloping in the Texas Hill Country, I CANNOT recommend Jennifer enough!
When choosing your elopement date, I always recommend weekdays for my couples. Since many vendors (myself included) are often booked out on weekends, weekdays are a great way to snag a spot at your favorite elopement location/venue and ensure your other vendors are available to bring your dream day to life. There are many other benefits to choosing a day Monday through Friday, like cheaper venue rates and fewer crowds. You can even make it a weekend-long affair by eloping on a Friday and spending the rest of the weekend celebrating by yourselves or with loved ones! Eloping on a weekday is definitely something I tell my couples to consider to make their elopement planning much smoother!
As mentioned before, many locations or venues are booked up for larger events on the weekends. So if you’re wanting to elope at Garner State Park during their stunning fall foliage season (like Katharine & Christian did), there’s going to be LOTS of people on the weekends. But most parks and public areas (like courthouse elopements) are much less busy during the week.
I feel like there’s a lot of misconceptions that an elopement has to be an epic adventure off on a mountaintop somewhere. And if that’s your vibe, then let’s go for it! But elopements can also be cozy little getaways like Cayleigh & Ryan’s elopement at the Hoffman Haus. They can be rugged with sweeping views or elegant with views of the city. They can be in the comfort of your backyard or on the strip in Las Vegas. Whatever makes your heart happy – that’s what you should do.
And just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate your favorite traditions. I love that Cayleigh & Ryan still had a little cake cutting just the two of them. I love that they incorporated a first look before their ceremony. At the end of the day, the whole point of eloping is making it all about marrying your best friend. And I promise to make sure your love story is seen and celebrated through every photo.
Capturing Cayleigh & Ryan’s intimate elopement at Hoffman Haus was such a privilege. Their genuine connection and the easy elegance of their day created stunning intimate moments. And, the fact they had Jennifer from Joyful Elopements helping them with all the little details and planning, it was an absolute breeze. It was an honor to be a part of their elopement love story.
I’d love to help bring your wedding vision to life and capture the beauty of your love story amidst the charm of the Hill Country.
